I was really confused by all this complexity and stuff, i guess because its complex.  I thought the facebook friend mapping was really interesting.  I always meet people who know people that I know and its always really coincidental and with that mapping thing you can see who knows who and where they know them from because there are always connections between people and sometimes you might not even realize it.  I also liked the slide about the complexity in technology because i think technology is to complex for the average user and people dont understand it and how to fix it and that is a problem because we are not on the same intelectual levels as our own mp3 players and when they break we just throw them away because we dont even know how they work.

I found the aircraft design really interesting because ive flown in alot of airplanes and it was really cool to learn about what really goes on.  I also like learning about the missiles and space ships and stuff because I think spaceships are really cool and someday I would like to go into space.  I also liked in class when we got to design our own robots because mine was really good and i think that I could get mine really produced.  Who wouldnt buy a robot to pick up dog poop. And the name was so good, Poomba, like roomba, but with poo.  plus it’s a play on words with poomba from the lion king so it is an extra good name.   I really like designing stuff, thats why i want to be an engineer.

this is crazy!!!! one of the robots can solve rubiks cubes…. i cant even do that.  it doesnt have hands, but it can solve rubiks cubes. that things crazy!!! one can even play the xylophone. like omg

I feel like such a deprived child never having one of these.  i was sitting around playing with matchbox cars and gi joes when i could have been designing advanced robots and what not.  imangine i could already be an engineer by now.

Now i’m really pissed i dont have one of these kits.  this things dispense folds and cuts the toilet paper into easy to wipe sizes.  how have i lived wothout this.

This guy had some really useful lego mindstorms that dont look amazingly difficult.  A plant sprinkler and a floor sweeper were to of my personal favorite.  So heres my own invention… mac n cheese robot. dispenses water, regulates heat, dispenses noodles when water temp reaches boiling, stirs, strains and then adds cheese milk and butter, stirs again and tada!!!!!

Summary

In europe tests have been done on the curent roadway restraint systems (guardrails).  They have figures out that the system in use now is to stiff and that the deceleration of the vehicle is to sudden causing greater injuries.  A new system has been designed with two new features.  The first is that the spacer between the guardrail and the post holding it has been designed to deform and absorb the impact and break off if necessary.  The second new feature is that a guiding rail has been added half way up the post.  This serves two purposes. This will prevent motorcyclists from sliding under the guard rail and it prevents from vehicle tires from catching on the posts.

Work for A3

I thought the coolest part of class today was when we got to see the remote control hooked up to the computer.  I thought that was intersting because I have seen lots of flight simulators for computers but most of them have been controlled by computer keyboards which is highly unrealistic.  It seemed very challenging to fly the remote contol plain with the remote because it keeps getting farther away and you have to remember to turn differently depending on which way the plane is facing.  I also thought it was interesting because i like airplanes and this seemed like a really cool way to fly model planes without all the cost and hassle that comes with a real model airplane.  Overall I enjoyed class and I am looking forward to going back.

A2 homework

(a) What did you find interesting about class today?

I thought the automobile engine stuff was really interesting.  I really liked the moving graphics of the engines and it gave me a very good idea on how an automobile engine works.  Out of the billions of people that drive cars most never have any idea whats going on under the hood.  They take for granted just that they get in the car na that when they turn the key it runs.  But little do they know how much is really going on.  All drivers should be taught about engines in my opinion.  I also thought it was interesting because i have blown up an automobile engine before and i got to see inside of it afterwards and i learned about so i thought it was very interesting to learn more about engines and hear how they work and apply it to my old engine and i could figure out in exactly what stage it blew up.
